How to Start Learning German from Zero in Dehradun: A 30-Day Plan

Language Zone German trainers · · 5 min read

Starting a new language is easier with a plan. If you want to learn German in Dehradun and have never studied it before, these first 30 days will build the habits you need for the German A1 course and the Start Deutsch 1 exam.

Week 1: sounds and spelling

German spelling is regular once you know the rules. Spend the first week on the alphabet, the umlauts ä, ö and ü, and the sounds of ch, sch, ei and ie. Learning pronunciation with a trainer early saves you months of bad habits later.

Week 2: words with their articles

Never learn a noun on its own. Say der Tisch, die Lampe and das Buch, not just Tisch, Lampe and Buch. Add ten new words a day, grouped by topic: family, food, numbers and your daily routine.

Week 3: your first sentences

  • Introduce yourself: name, city, job or studies.
  • Ask and answer simple questions: Wie heißt du? Woher kommst du?
  • Use sein and haben in the present tense.
  • Practise numbers, dates and times by saying today's date aloud every morning.

Week 4: speak every day

Speaking is the skill most beginners avoid, and the one that improves fastest with practice. Record a one-minute voice note about your day, or join a class with a communicative approach where you speak German from the first session.

Next step: join a German A1 batch in Dehradun

A structured course keeps you consistent and prepares you for the exam. Language Zone's German A1 course runs at our Race Course centre in Dehradun and online, with morning, evening and personalised batches. Request a call back to find your batch.
